How To Keep Your Immune System From Crashing When Exercising
The health of your immune system is directly linked to how hard you exercise and how much you rest. Too much exercise with not enough rest will destroy your immune system.
Unfortunately, if you don't get close to your body's exercise limit you won't get results.
So here is how to keep your immune system from crashing when exercising hard:
1. Block mental stress: Your body can only handle so many stresses at once. And if you pile a bunch of mental stress on top of your exercise stress, bad things are going to happen. You see, negative emotional states have a direct impact on your immune system.
2. Don't eliminate food groups: This is horrible for your performance and your health. For the strongest immunity possible you need to get as many nutrients as possible from your diet. So make sure you diet is balanced with a wide variety of foods.
3. Don't skimp on sleep: Sleep is the most restorative and regenerative time period for the human body. If you aren't getting high quality sleep every single system in your body will suffer, including your immune system. So make sure your sleep is at least seven hours without interruption.
4. Don't lose too much too quickly: Losing weight at extremely rapid rates is extremely unhealthy. Not only will you destroy your metabolism, but you will also crash your immune system. So make sure you keep a slow Weight Loss pace that feels healthy.
5. Eat before and after exercise: Before exercise you want to have a small meal with some slow digesting carbohydrates. After exercise you want to have a liquid meal with fast digesting carbohydrates. Both of these strategies will reduce the impact of stress hormones.
6. Don't train through sickness: If you are feeling exhausted or if you are presenting mild sickness symptoms, do not train. This is your body's way of telling you to stop. And if you keep on pushing forward your immune system will crash.
A single bout of sickness can take you out of the exercise game for weeks. So make sure you take heed of the advice in this article as soon as possible!
